What I’m Learning About Loving Myself and Setting Boundaries

IT’S SO HARD!! Some people leave and some people stay. The ones that stay are your people; the ones that love you no matter what. They love you for you. They are the ones that make you laugh til your cheeks and belly hurts, til tears run down your legs, let you cry on their shoulder, let you be vulnerable, share your fears and anxieties, have deep conversations with and are brutally honest with you because you need to hear it sometimes even if you dont want to, they make the hard times seem a tad bit easier because they’re in your life and support and encourage you, and you know beyond a shadow of a doubt they always will be, the ones that are there and root for you no matter what. They accept you for you without judgement. The ones who leave are the ones who just weren’t meant to walk your path with you. Or arent meant to walk your path right now, but maybe later in the future. They are dealing with their own struggles and either just aren’t ready for what you have to offer and are scared by it, or they use you for their own benefit and once you put your foot down, they bolt. And then you’re left with confusion and uncertainty. Those feelings are not from God. That’s how you realize, know and understand that they aren’t your people even though we wish some of them were. That’s the hard part. Sometimes the people that werent meant to stay are ones we truly care about and it’s hard to let them go. God loves us and wants us to live in peace as much as possible. Not confusion, not doubt, not uncertainty. That’s why He brings the people who were meant to be in your life to you. To grant you peace and love. To remind you of Him and turn to Him when things get rocky. To remind you that He has always been right there with you the entire time even when you ignored Him. Beware when you ask Him to direct your path because He clears it, by laying it on your heart to setting boundaries for ourselves because He is Love and He loves us so much that He already has a plan for us. He knows our hearts and desires, and prepares that future for us by changing our hearts to align with his will, making His desires our own. And if this god loves me this much, that’s good enough for me, and because of His love for me, I love me too. Enough to stand firm even though it’s hard. Waiting on God is one of the most difficult things to do, but he promises it’s worth it so I’m trusting Him on His Word.
